Lesson Title:  Resilience-“Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too”.

Objectives:
1.      To explain the concept of resilience.
2.      To demonstrate examples of resiliency by showing clips from the video “Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too”.

Description of Lesson:
1.      Explain the concept of resilience.
2.      Ask the students for examples they recall of people overcoming obstacles.
3.      Briefly summarize the story line of the video they will see.
4.      Show a clip of Pooh and his friends encountering obstacles like losing their letter to Santa.
5.      Discuss the problem and ask children to predict what will happen next.
6.      Show the video clip of Pooh and friends surmounting the difficulty.
7.      Discuss the cartoon characters and their attitudes.
8.      Show a clip of Pooh and friends being rewarded for their resiliency.

Conclusion:  Discuss the story and the resiliency of the characters and how the students can relate resiliency to their own lives.

Materials Needed:  Video Tape “Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too”.

Lesson Timing:  20 minutes
